What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
The biggest misconception about artificial turf is that it is simply made of plastic. Artificial turf is manufactured using plastic materials, yes! However, it is actually a combination of polyethylene, polypropylene, and nylon fibers engineered to mimic the appearance of natural grass. These materials undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are safe for various applications, including residential lawns, sports fields, and playgrounds. Artificial turf also does not contain PFA's which is a large concern
What is your biggest current challenge at work?
Honestly, scheduling is always the trickiest! We cover 4 states and we have residential customers and commercial customers. We have to always work to satisfy both as timelines come in to play along with making sure miss utility is called, materials are in stock and etc.
What keeps you up at night?
We are a family owned and operated business, so I tend to take this a little more personal! We strive hard for communication!
What project is your company most proud of?
We have completed a few Make A Wish Projects so would say either those or honestly donating to rescues. We love to see the adoptables have clean space to use and have zoomies on!
How does your ABC membership help your company?
We work with a lot of contractors or projects so we are looking to meet some new ones and just maintain relationships with others we have made throughout the years :)
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Only thing I ever knew was I wanted to be a mom. I fell into the turf industry and here I am doing both!
Tell us something no one in the industry knows about you.
I struggled for years with infertility and had my baby with IVF so I work from home and have her home with me!
What do you look forward to each day?
Seeing the finished photos of the jobs we complete!
What are you like to work for?
We have a lot of different groups of family members from sisters, mother in laws, brothers, cousins, brother in laws, etc. so we try to keep a very positive tight knit group of people. We try to do a few fun things with the crews each year for team building and keep up the morale!
What is your favorite metro Washington hangout/restaurant?
I live on the Eastern Shore so I have more knowledge over here!
Who would you trade places with for a day?
Good question! I don't really know!
What is your favorite movie or tv show?
My favorite movie is Tommy Boy. I have WAY too many favorite shows. I like thriller and suspense shows the best.
What do you do for fun?
I like to try new restaurants, go boating, read books, watch tv shows and find new things to try with my daughter and her cousins!
What business/career advice do you wish you had when you began?
Do not feel like you need to win every job. There will be residential customers that you may not mix with. I learned the hard way there are times to walk away when you do not get a good feeling with someone.
What book are you currently reading?
King of Ashes - S. A Cosby is next on my list!
What was your first job?
I worked at a Daycare Center for years!
