What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
As we look to the future, ROCKWOOL hopes to
improve awareness that stone wool and the
products we manufacturer will play an increasingly
significant role in addressing two of the most farreaching
megatrends influencing virtually every
aspect of modern society – urbanisation and
climate change.
What is your biggest current challenge at work?
Work challenges: The combination of more people
living in more densely populated urban areas and
the worsening consequences of climate change will
increase the demand for modern housing and
energy. At the same time, the world will have to feed
its growing population using fewer resources, while
also managing the effects of more frequent extreme
weather events, particularly in urban environments
What keeps you up at night?
Fire safety. Stone wool insulation is vital to help
ensure the safety of building occupants, preventing
the spread of fire and limiting its structural damage.
A fire can start in any part of a building or from
outdoor sources. That’s why fire-resistant insulation
is suggested wherever possible.
ROCKWOOL has several effective solutions.
What project is your company most proud of?
One of ROCKWOOL's significant and active projects
is the Marriner S. Eccles Federal Reserve Board
Building and the 1951 Constitution Ave. building in
Washington DC. ROCKWOOL is working with several
contractor partners. The extensive renovation
project has been in planning for more than a decade
and is expected to be completed by 2027. The
renovations are crucial for modernizing facilitates
that have not been updated since the original
construction in the 1930s
How does your ABC membership help your company?
ABC Metro Washington supports ROCKWOOL's mission to develop business by providing
networking opportunities with all field construction
trades.
ABC's legislative advocacy and regulatory support
help to shape policies critical to the insulation
manufacturing industry. Additionally, business leads
and construction referrals are valuable as well.
What is your favorite metro Washington hangout/restaurant?
The Old Ebbitt Grill, Washington's oldest saloon, was
founded in 1856 by innkeeper William E. Ebbitt. Now
located in National Press Building at 14th and F
Streets NW. The beauty of Washington DC history is
on full display at Ebbitt's
Who would you trade places with for a day?
Mr. Gary Sinise is an incredibly extraordinary
American. His humanitarian work and involvement
with charitable organizations is the GOLD standard.
What is your favorite movie or tv show?
M*A*S*H (TV Series) An American war comedy
drama series, now in syndication. The series ran
from 1972-1983
What business/career advice do you wish you had when you began?
Invest in self-discovery much more, to understand
your personal passions, your core strengths and
values. Those discoveries and understandings help
to guide a young professional when choosing their
path.
What book are you currently reading?
Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham
Lincoln. A 2005 book by Pulitzer Prize-winning
American historian Doris Kearns Goodwin.
What was your first job?
Architectural Interior Products, a 4-location building
products distributor in Western, West Virginia.
