What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
In my mind the biggest misconception about the
construction industry is that it is not a technology
heavy industry. Today technology is in every part of
the industry. We need to adapt at breakneck speed
as new technology is introduced in order to stay
competitive.
What is your biggest current challenge at
work?
The changing landscape of the industry when it
comes to the tariffs, technology, schedules and
labor.
What project is your company most proud
of?
Every project that we finish is a proud
accomplishment to me. Starting at the bidding
phase where it is just lines on paper to seeing it built
in front of me. It always amazes me. Some of my
favorite projects include the tallest residential
building in Maryland, 414 Light Street. The Exelon
tower in Baltimore. Also the Hyattsville Children's
Library where we had the fun challenge of building a
castle for the kids to play on.
How does your ABC membership help your
company?
ABC has been a crucial networking organization that
we have been able to utilize for everything from
healthcare costing to training on the everchanging
legal landscape effecting the construction industry.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be an architect when I grew up. I
think I got pretty close.
Tell us something no one in the industry
knows about you.
I'm a graduate from the University of Alabama and a
die hard fan. Roll Tide!
What do you look forward to each day?
Our daily Ping-Pong competition in our breakroom
during lunch. Undefeated.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy hunting, golfing, and exercising with my dog.
What business/career advice do you wish
you had when you began?
I wish everyone had told me there is no right or
wrong way. Everyone is just making it up as they go.
What was your first job?
My first job was sweeping the floors at Fallston
Supply everyday after school.
