What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
The construction industry does not provide a viable career path. Anyone, no matter their education, background, etc. can find a suitable career with growth opportunities for themselves and their families. BF Joy, LLC has many examples we can share.
What is your biggest current challenge at work?
We have the same challenge as the majority of the construction industry - workforce shortage.
What keeps you up at night?
Where the next generation of workers will come from. Many of today's younger generation have never been exposed to the tools and skills required for our industry which makes them question if a career is possible. To attract them to our industry, it will require extensive training and a budget to achieve the short/long term objective.
What project is your company most proud of?
BF Joy, LLC is most proud of the relocation of utilities for construction of the MCI Center (now Capital One Arena). This project, all these years later, is still one of the deepest average depth projects BF Joy has ever performed; much of the work was more than 20 feet in depth.
