June 15, 2021: 

Governor Larry Hogan hosted a short press conference this afternoon to announce the following:

  • Maryland is seeing a record-low seven-day positivity rate of 0.82% -- which is down 86% since mid-April. The positivity rate has been under 1% for seven straight days.
  • The State has administered more than 6.5 million COVID-19 vaccinations so far.
  • The State of Emergency will end on July 1st along with all associated mandates.
  • Legal mask mandates will terminate, including schools, child care centers, and mass transit.
  • Businesses may impose their own mandates.
  • While the state of emergency will be lifted, the various state agencies involved in the COVID-19 response will transition to “an ongoing operation. . .to wind this down over the next several months.”
  • Also beginning on July 1st, a 45-day grace period be instituted to allow citizens to renew their expired driver licenses.
  • The State will extend the eviction moratorium through August 15.
  • The Governor advised that removing the State of Emergency does not impact the State’s access to federal funds.
  • Local Governments may still have the authority to announce or maintain their own local state of emergencies.
