STEP participants are nearly 6 times safer than the construction industry average.
Join ABC of Metro Washington's Safety Task Force as they walk you through the 2024 STEP application and the importance of committing to safety. You will learn more about the STEP program and how to complete the application.
STEP is ABC's safety management system that dramatically improves safety performance among participants. STEP participants are nearly 6 times safer than the construction industry average.
Participating ABC member firms measure their safety process and policies through a detailed, yet simple questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents. The information contained in each STEP application is viewed only by ABC staff and is kept strictly confidential.
Member contractors and suppliers are encouraged to get recognized for their commitment to safety thru participating in STEP each year.

Please come prepared with the following items:
- 2023 OSHA-300A
- NAICS code
- Annual $ volume of work
- Name your company uses with your insurance brokerage, carrier or surety
- % of work type (residential, commercial, industrial, public works)
- OSHA inspection history
- Company EMR as of January 1, 2024
It's simple to complete! Bring your laptop or IPad to complete the STEP application at the workshop. Or you can fill out a PDF to finalize back at your office.
