Building Trust & Courageous Conversations

Establishing trust within a team is an essential component of a successful business. Learning how to communicate with your leadership and team about delicate topics is crucial for growth too. Peter Schwartz will walk you through a day of training so that you're prepared with these key skills to take back to your job.

Attend one or both sessions. A light breakfast will be included with the Building Trust morning session, and lunch is included with the Courageous Conversations afternoon session.

Building Trust

September 15, 2026 | 8:00am - 12:00pm

ABC of Metro Washington | 6901 Muirkirk Meadows Dr., Suite F, Beltsville, MD 20705

Building trust requires an investment of time and energy—two resources in short supply. As with nearly every investment, what’s important is the significant long-term payoff.

The Trust session focuses on why improving trust is an important leadership function, the payoff when it is there, and the cost when it is not.

Participants will learn and discuss the 5 Factors of Trust as trust building concepts and begin a strategy for elevating trust. Peter will explain how trust can be built behaviorally by being:

  • Competent

  • Believable

  • Reliable

  • Connected

  • Vulnerable

Courageous Conversations

September 15, 2026 | 12:30pm - 4:30pm

ABC of Metro Washington | 6901 Muirkirk Meadows Dr., Suite F, Beltsville, MD 20705

Being authentic in relationships requires the courage to take on conversations that feel risky. You can take steps to manage the risks of these conversations and increase your odds of creating important task and relational outcomes.

Participants will gain clarity about why the ability to take on courageous conversations strongly influences their leadership effectiveness. By utilizing a Risk Management Checklist, participants will feel more confident about approaching such conversations.

Effective leaders can also take steps to create a culture where egos are less threatened by unfiltered information flow—so that “tough conversations” no longer feel so risky.
