Message from the Chair

Dear ABC Members,

After 30 years of service to ABC of Metro Washington as President and CEO, Debbie Livingston will be retiring at the end of 2021.

Under Debbie’s leadership and excellent financial stewardship, ABC of Metro Washington received ABC’s highest level of accreditation and numerous ABC National chapter awards. She also led important initiatives to expand the merit shop philosophy and was a mentor and collaborator with many people in the region and industry.

Over her three decades on a national level, Debbie held numerous ABC committee appointments to help guide the association and promote the merit shop philosophy.

Debbie’s guidance and influence with ABC of Metro Washington and its members can be seen and felt far and wide. Her impact on our members and industry is extensive, including:

  • The development of the Young Professionals and Women Building Washington groups;
  • Creating the Leadership Development Program, in which she was a mentor and supporter of many of the participants and graduates;
  • Building a state-of-the-art training academy for apprenticeship and craft training programs to support workforce development in our industry; and
  • The coordination with member companies and the District of Columbia to hold a vaccination event for almost 800 construction workers at The Wharf project in DC.

We thank Debbie for all that she has accomplished through her leadership and guidance of ABC of Metro Washington. We wish her well and know that she’ll continue to influence the community around her.

The Board of Directors is also pleased to announce that Dan Bond, CAE has been appointed as ABC of Metro Washington’s President and CEO. Dan is an association executive with 14 years of experience in member, professional and trade associations. He most recently served in a dual role as President of the Synthetic Turf Council International and President and CEO of the Synthetic Turf Council where he was responsible for the general affairs of both organizations. He also has held management positions at the Shipbuilders Council of America and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University and a Master of Science in Management from The Catholic University of America.

Debbie and Dan will both be attending the upcoming Holiday Reception on December 15, 2021 at Manor Country Club. We hope you will be attending and can meet and greet them both.

Best regards,

Thank you,
