About Shawn Scarlata: Shawn Scarlata is a member of the ABC of Metro Washington Board of Directors and is actively involved in the Prince George's County Legislative Committee.
He is the Founder of SMART Security Pros dba Mobile Video Guard, a company he started in 2016 with a focus on making security “easy and effective”.
Shawn’s “first career” was in law enforcement, where he spent 23 years as a police officer in Prince George’s County, Maryland. After a few years working as a patrol officer he was assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Division where he spent 15 years working undercover and then wrapped up the final years assigned to an Executive Protection detail. His interest in business started midway through his law enforcement career, in 2008 he and some partners started a security guard service business. After eight years running that company Shawn exited and started Mobile Video Guard, with the recurring thought of “there has to be a better way……a better way to provide more comprehensive levels of security to construction sites at a much lower cost than the traditional security guard model”.
Shawn and his team have focused on and built their remote monitored video surveillance around the needs of the construction industry. Currently they protect hundreds of projects in 44 states across the country.
