When Mayor Fenty announced that he was repeating the DC Schools Buff and Scrub program in the summer of 2008, the Metro Washington Chapter responded yet again.  The chapter’s Community Service Committee took on Ellington School of the Arts, and volunteers repaired lights and walls, painted a Rehearsal Hall and Scene Shop, replaced ceiling tiles, and refinished the Rehearsal Hall floor.  In all, members donated more than $35,000 in supplies and labor to make these much needed repairs.

Rather than take on additional schools this year, the chapter encouraged members to adopt schools on their own.  Including Ellington, ABC members worked in 20 of the 27 schools on the city’s Buff and Scrub list and more than 40 percent (36 out of 84) of the companies that participated were ABC members.  The chapter appreciates the contributions of the following ABC members at their adopted schools:
