What is your biggest current challenge at work?

Maintaining the level of quality that UES sets as a baseline standard. This means going the extra mile for a client whether that means staying late to finish a report on time, working with a client to resolve issues that arise on a project, or simply double checking a test result to confirm the accuracy. Maintaining a high level of quality is hard work but worth it! Challenge accepted!

What project is your company most proud of?

I would honestly say I have not come across a project yet that UES was not proud to be a part of. We treat each project with the same level of quality and work ethic to ensure no project falls short of our internal goals of client satisfaction.

What keeps you up at night?

Are we truly satisfying our clients' needs? This question keeps me up some nights because UES strives to maintain high quality service our clients and be a positive, constructive member of project teams. We constantly evaluate ourselves, with help from clients, to ensure we are meeting our clients' needs for the good of a project.

How does your ABC membership help your company?

ABC helps our potential clients see that we are actively trying to get to know colleagues in the construction community. It also gives our potential clients an opportunity to meet and get to know more about the people they will be working with directly. It brings out UES on a more personable level to others in our industry.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

An engineer.

What do you look forward to each day?

I honestly look forward to work each day. I work with a great group of folks and we all enjoy our jobs. We all have the same work ethic and goals.

What are you like to work for?

I like to think I am fair and approachable. I try to treat my employees with the same respect and gratitude that I would like to be treated with. I also try to adhere to employee goals they have set for themselves. This is important to my employees therefore it should be important to me as well.

Who would you trade places with?

I would trade places with Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg. I just imagine the positive things that could be done with the inftuence they have in their industries.

What business/career advice do you wish you had when you began?

I would tell my younger self to make sure you enjoy what you do everyday. If you enjoy what you do at work then it isn't really work!

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

I am a big Marvel Comic fan so anything Marvel I tend to like.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy hiking/camping. I prefer to hike everything in and camp rather than drive up to the campsite. To me it makes for a more meaningful experience.

What was your first job?

My first job was in a snow ski maintenance and sales shop in the foothills of North Carolina. My first engineering job was working in a soils and concrete lab for an engineering firm in North Carolina.
