Bruce L. Jones Contractor Company

What is your biggest current challenge at work?

The ability to stay fluid and productive through the pandemic has been a challenge. The newest hurdle is working through the current lumber market increases and creating ways to continue to serve our customers.

What keeps you up at night?

Right now I would be foolish not to mention the current state of the lumber market as it affects our customer’s abilities to manage wood framing into their project budgets.

What project is your company most proud of?

We are proud of all of our projects! The most recent notable is the Woodlands at Reid Temple. These are 2 buildings totaling over 250K sf that were run simultaneously and featured a few 4 story radius and flared turrets and focal points. We were able to design and prefabricate all parts of this building off site to assemble at the project location. The buildings here were up and under roof in 14 weeks, which became the largest senior housing project in MD and also the first wood framed residential project to have a Cooperative Compliance Partnership with MOSH.

How does your ABC membership help your company?

We had originally joined for the networking opportunities and learned quickly that there is much more to offer. We are currently exploring opportunities for training and apprenticeship programs.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Growing up I wanted to be a marine biologist. I was always fascinated with the ocean and sharks specifically.

What do you look forward to each day?

Everyday I look forward to helping people solve their problems. It is very rewarding when you can make something work that a customer may have thought wasn’t possible.

What is your favorite Metro Washington hangout/restaurant?

My family and I are big fans of Chef Geoff’s. Especially the dessert cookies after a nice piece of steak!

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

Jaws. Love it, and hard to argue with the classics!

What do you do for fun?

I love spending time with my family and enjoy playing golf.

What business/career advice do you wish you had when you began?

You never get the bad days back. Make the most of every opportunity to be as productive as possible.

What book are you currently reading?

Getting Naked by Patrick Lencioni

What was your first job?

First paying job was working as a youth on a golf course watching golfers try to win a prize for a hole in one during tournaments. I was there just as a witness under the shade of a tree, and it paid $20 a day!

Bruce L Jones Contractor Company produces the highest quality turnkey packages in the area. From residential to commercial projects, along with our highly skilled framers and subcontractors, we can take any project from blueprints through to completion in a fast and efficient manner.

It starts with our experienced estimators, designers, and office staff. Together we become project managers finding and eliminating potential problems. We also communicate with all phases of a project from builders to supervisors, from architects and structural engineers to the owners.  We make sure the entire project is coordinated, and the wall panels are designed and built accurately.

Our very flexible plant builds the wall panels on up to 5 panel lines with teams of 3 experienced builders on each line. Our plant can produce an average of 12,000 lineal feet of panels each week. This allows us to have an extremely fast turnaround time, from design to delivery. It also allows us to make sure that all projects stay ahead of schedule.
