Committees

Committees are an integral part of our association and are one of the most effective environments for networking and developing relationships within the industry. They provide an opportunity for our members to contribute their expertise and participate with top industry leaders.

Craft Training

Driving the direction of the ABC CraftMasters Training Trust, the committee develops construction trade professionals through innovative educational programming providing the metro Washington region with the most highligh skilled workforce.

Golf Outing

The Golf Outing Committee is responsible for planning the chapter’s annual golf tournament and networking reception, as well as attaining sponsorships, prize donations and players.

XYZ Young Professionals

Geared towards the 40 and under professional crowd, the XYZ Young Professionals Committee provides networking and educational opportunities for young professionals in the construction industry. Young professionals build lasting professional relationships with their peers, mentors and ABC of Metro Washington while developing leadership skills.

The Legislative Committee advocates for the merit positions of the construction industry on issues that affect your ability to compete in a free and open market in Washington, D.C.

Legislative - Joint Legislative Committee 

The Joint Legislative Committee is comprised of members from all four Maryland ABC Chapters.  They meet weekly in Annapolis during the Maryland General Assembly 90-day session (January 12-April 11) to review and evaluate legislation which may be determined to have an impact on ABC members or the construction industry.  The Committee meets as needed during the remainder of the year (usually once a month starting in September).

Legislative - Prince George's County

Management Education

Providing the leadership to enhance performance in the industry, the Management Education Committee develops the curriculum of management education seminars on a variety of topics for ABC of Metro Washington.

Membership

By attracting quality construction and construction-related businesses, the Membership Committee promotes the chapter's growth. The committee also nurtures new members' involvement, ensuring the stability of the association and assisting members with getting the most benefit from their membership through involvement with the association's services, programs and events.

The Events Committee plans monthly networking events that provide opportunities for all members to expand their business contacts, develop relationships, and share ideas.

Women Building Washington

The Women Building Washington committee supports the development of women in the construction industry by providing networking, mentoring, and educational opportunities to meet the needs of women in our industry.

Workforce Development

The Workforce Development committee develops strategies and opportunities for members to connect with the future workforce through community outreach, events/career fairs, and ABC's student chapters at local colleges. Scholarships are also provided by the committee to individuals pursuing construction-related college degrees.
