Kensington Glass Arts, Inc.

What is the biggest misconception about the industry?

That glass is easy and is just "window dressing" to the projects (no pun intended). Glazing is a very important facet of all Architectural designs and is an increasingly more complex component of the overall result.

What is your biggest current challenge at work?

The construction industry, as a whole, is suffering from a lack of qualified staff and the glazing industry is no different. Finding, recruiting, keeping, and growing staff into the future continues to be our largest focus.

What project is your company most proud of?

This is impossible to determine. We have completed many outstanding award-winning projects over the years. Calling one our “proudest project” would undermine the value of others. Suffice it to say that we are proud to have been involved in some of the DMV's biggest and most complicated glazing projects and are happy to be contributing to the built environment.

How does your ABC membership help your company?

Our ABC membership has certainly aided us in our success over the years. The ability to associate with our clients, determine their needs and refine our offering has been valuable and welcomed. We believe that this is a symbiotic relationship that strengthens all of us.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a CPA. Happy to be in the glass business

What do you look forward to each day?

I look forward to the next opportunity to do something remarkable.

What is your favorite metro Washington hangout/restaurant?

The Wine Kitchen on the Creek in Frederick, MD

What is your favorite movie or tv show?

Movie: Die Hard

TV Show: Ted Lasso

Both of these are about overcoming adversity!

What do you do for fun?

I love to play golf.

What business/career advice do you wish you had when you began?

I wish I had learned to “let go” of things earlier and not sweat the small stuff.

What book are you currently reading?

On the Road, by Jack Kerouac

What was your first job?

At 14, I worked as a donut fryer and finisher at Plain and Fancy Donuts in Laurel, MD.
