What is the biggest misconception about the industry?

The waste and recyclables collection services enjoys the same technological advances as high-profile industries; including cloud based dispatch, online customer portals and thorough regulatory reporting resources.

What is your biggest current challenge at work?

A company is only as good as its people, finding qualified employees in this environment will be an issue for the foreseeable future.

What keeps you up at night?

With thousands of customers, and zero tolerance for failure, my first morning activity is hoping those customers are lauding but being ready to address critques.

What project is your company most proud of?

We were recently awarded a long term contract to handle all of the waste for WMATA, which then led to a 5-year construction waste project at the Bladensburg Bus Garage.

How does your ABC membership help your company?

Who you know is as important as what you know, and the construction industry should know that JLT Trucking provides the best waste services in the industry.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Race car driver.

I am the 2008 recipient of the United States Green Building Council's Presidential Award for contributions to Green Building.

What do you look forward to each day?

Lunch.

What are you like to work for?

Demanding.

Anywhere in Georgetown.

Worked in my father's clothing factory

Jerome L. Taylor Trucking (JLT) is a locally owned and operated waste collection company. In 2002, the company was formed as a second-generation waste collection operation in Washington DC.  We are minority owned and certified as a District CBE, Maryland MBE, WMATA DBE and SBA HUBZone company.
