Governor Hogan Announces Purple Line Will Move Forward

  Governor Hogan recently announced that the State will go forward with the construction of the Purple Line saving more than $500 million as a result of design changes and additional local and private-sector funding.  The Purple Line is a 16-mile light rail line extending from Bethesda to New Carrollton.  

District of Columbia Truck Idling

  Last week representatives of the Chapter met with representatives of the DC Department of the Environment (DDOE) and the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) to discuss concerns about truck idling. DDOE is asking companies to make sure that they are aware of the District's idling laws and to consider placing "No Idling" signs at job sites.

Prince George’s County Announces New Fee Schedule

  Effective July 1, 2015, a new fee schedule went into effect for the Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspection and Enforcement.  The new fee schedule is available to view here. 

Minimum Wage in the District of Columbia is Now $10.50 Per hour

  Beginning July 1, 2015, the minimum wage in the District of Columbia will increase from $9.50 per hour to $10.50 per hour for all workers, regardless of size of employer. The Minimum Wage Amendment Act of 2013 was signed into law on January 15, 2014 after unanimous passage by the D.C. Council and includes provisions to further increase the minimum wage through 2016.
