ABC Representatives Meet with Congressman Andy Harris

ABC representatives took the time to meet and thank Congressman Andy Harris at the ABC National Legislative Conference this week.  Congressman Harris is a strong supporter of ABC and our issues.

DC Begins Land Acquisition for Soccer Stadium

  The DC City Council has issued a notice of intent to consider PR21-210 "Omnibus Soccer Stadium Contracts Approval Resolution of 2015" on June 30th, 2015 which will allow the council to approve four land purchase contracts for assemblage for the DC United Soccer Stadium. Learn more here. 

Hearing on Fair Minimum Wage Act

  The DC Board of Elections and Ethics will hold a public hearing on July 1 to determine if the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2016 is a proper subject for a ballot initiative. The initiative as presented would raise DC's minimum wage to $12.50 per hour in July of 2017, and then raise it each year after that until it reaches $15 per hour by July 2020.

Montgomery County Council to Vote on Sick and Safe Bill

  Following a worksession on the mandatory paid sick leave legislation, the Council has scheduled a vote on the bill on June 23.  ABC and other business groups have expressed interest in the cost and administrative burden which will fall on the employer.  ABC is also concerned about local jurisdictions enacting their own legislation, each different from their neighbors, further compounding the problem for employers to comply.
