This 4-hour, hands-on training is designed to enable students to recognize, evaluate and prevent safety hazards related to rigging equipment.

The goal of this program is to gain knowledge and skills to identify, explain and define hazards and acceptable corrective measurements in rigging and signaling procedures in accordance with 29CFR 1926 Subpart CC, ASME B30.9, B30.10, and B30.26

Objectives:

• Discuss the positions and general rules of OSHA 1926.1400 and ASME B30.9, B30.10 and B30.26 in regard to lifting equipment

• Discuss the basic lifting equipment

• Inspections and Limits of rigging equipment and accessories

• Typical equipment damages

• Sling angles

• Choosing the right equipment for the lift

• Types of hitches

• How to calculate the weights of materials and how much weight in each sling holds

• Center of gravity and importance

• Common hand signals for cranes

• Signal Person Responsibilities
