Mechanical Engineering & Construction Corporation

What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
That there are not enough labor resources. I reach out to middle-school students and promote reasons why they should attend vocational school specific to our industry. There are also other programs, such as Jump Start, that need our support.

What is your biggest current challenge at work?
Keeping apprentices engaged during the four year program. Schooling needs to align with what apprentices see in the field as well as become more hands on application versus book work.

What keeps you up at night?
Nothing. I'm not a worrier.

What project is your company most proud of?
Rebuilding the E-ring at the Pentagon.

How does your ABC membership help your company?
Legal and legislative updates.
Presence on the Hill.
Promoting merit shop/free enterprise.
Continued education and safety certifications.
Apprenticeship training.

What is your favorite metro Washington hangout/restaurant?

When out in the field, I like to grab lunch at Pasta Plus Restaurant in Laurel, MD.

What do you do for fun?
Take photographs of waterfowl.

What was your first job?
At age 14, I rode my bicycle to the local marina and ran the gas docks.
