American Reprographics, Inc.

What is the biggest misconception about the industry?

Most people don’t realize what the term “reprographics” even means so they typically assume it just means printing or blueprinting.  The term, which loosely means to reproduce anything of a graphic nature, has come to cover a wide range of other services as well.  While wide format printing is still a key feature, we have expanded our capabilities to include scanning, digital document management and storage, online planroom hosting, spec book and technical manual printing, graphic displays, tradeshow displays, construction site safety signage, banners, floor graphics, wall graphics, die cut vinyl stickers, vehicle magnets, marketing and promotional materials, mailings, flyers, postcards, booklets, directories, business cards, custom tabs and more.

What is your biggest current challenge at work?

Educating our current clients about our ever-expanding capabilities.

What keeps you up at night?

How will the weather impact our abilities to deliver plans to jobsites?  I’ve had a recurring dreams, about our delivery vehicles being stuck it the mud at a jobsite.

What project is your company most proud of?

We’ve copied plans for ABC Golf outings, sports teams, the Pentagon, US Capitol Bathroom renovations, but the greatest source of pride for the staff at American Reprographics is our partnership with the Ivymount School. We are a jobsite host for autistic young adults in the Ivymount post high school program.  For over 10 years we have been working with the school to help introduce developmentally disabled students to the work environment.  We have hosted more than fifty students.  They learn practical skills, socialization skills, and develop lasting friendships with our employees. Our staff is practicing autism awareness on a daily basis.  They work with and communicate with the Ivymount students.  Witnessing the personal growth in our employees as they become teachers, mentors, and friends with the Ivymount students has been truly magical.

How does your ABC membership help your company?

We joined ABC as an associate member to support the industry that supports us.  We had no idea that joining ABC would turn out to be one of the best things our company has ever done.  We have a chance to work with and get to know many new clients.  The relationships that began at ABC events have last for decades.  ABC itself is one of our best clients.  We've been creating signage for ABC events for over 10 years.  Joining ABC has allowed American Reprographics to become more than just a vendor, we are a part of, and an active member in, the Washington DC construction community.  I thank you for the business, the contacts, and the credibility that comes with being a member of ABC.
