Hercules Fence

What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
That the fencing trade is simple and easy. Truth is, we are typically first or last on the job, always a critical path scope, and our exterior work environment offers many challenges and unforeseen issues.

What is your biggest current challenge at work?
Finding dedicated and qualified workers. We take great pride in the quality of our work and our job-site communication. We set our standards high. We have so many loyal and dedicated employees, as we grow, the biggest challenge is adding good "Hercules" employees that share in our common vision and want to grow within the company.

What project is your company most proud of?
We are proud to work on many of the most prestigious landmarks in world. Is there a better City to call home than Washington, DC? The White House, US Capitol, and the Pentagon are a few signature projects. I would say the MOST PROUD of: We custom fabricated all of the railings and fence at the Warrior Transition Building inside Walter Reed, Bethesda, MD. An absolutely amazing honor to think of our railings helping to support and rehabilitate our wounded soldiers. Without a doubt when I think about the construction of this job and the actual use of our rails, I get the chills and feel a sense of gratitude and thankfulness to our men and woman who protect our amazing Country.

How does your ABC membership help your company?
We are big ABC fans. We are members of the VA, Metro, and Baltimore Chapters. It is important to recognize the community of hard workers that advocate for our industry. We often use ABC for safety classes, networking events, and we can use the organizations to keep a pulse on the construction market in general.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Doctor for sure...until I took some hard science classes!

What is your favorite metro Washington hangout/restaurant?
The National Mall. Visiting the monuments and museums never gets old to me.

Who would you trade places with for a day?
The President of the US. I would love to take Marine One all over our city, to Camp David, and then take Air Force One up to NY with the family, check out the skyline and then see the Statue of Liberty, have dinner, see a show, and head home. I think that would be a fun day.

What is your favorite movie or tv show?
I'm a Star Wars nut--coolest thing is reliving it with my 9 year-old son who loves it!

What do you do for fun?
I workout a lot--certainly for fun but also for my sanity. It helps keep me balanced. I enjoy Crossfit and I also train in the martial arts--working on my blackbelt!

What was your first job?
Pizza delivery--nothing shapes your tipping habits more than working a first job that relies solely on tips!
