DC Council Passes Anti-Business Bill

On July 10th, 2013 the DC City Council voted 8 – 5 to pass Bill 20-62, the Large Retailer Accountability Act of 2013. This legislation as passed would require any large retailer operating within the District of Columbia to pay a living wage of at least $12.50 an hour.   The legislation offers an exemption for any company that has signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), even if the agreed upon starting hourly wage in the CBA is less than the previously mentioned living wage.
