Board member John Miller, president, The Millstone Companies, hosted the event in Upper Marlboro and approximately 20 ABC members attended. The purpose of the meeting was to have a candid conversation about development opportunities in Prince George’s County and how ABC and the County can work together. County Executive Baker specifically cited the proposed casino at National Harbor, a new regional medical facility, and the FBI's consideration of Prince George's County for its headquarters.  Mr. Baker discussed his desire to change the governance of the Prince George’s County Public School System by placing the superintendent under the control of the Executive Branch, just like any other department of county government. It was mutually agreed upon that a quality school system can be the best economic development tool the county can have to attract and retain businesses. County Executive Baker and ABC leadership agreed to schedule more frequent meetings in the future to maintain and enhance the line of communication between the executive branch of government and the merit construction industry.
