Legislation in Annapolis which would have authorized the Prince George’s County Council to tax all county businesses to raise monies for school construction has been withdrawn by the sponsor. ABC of Metro Washington met with the Committee chair to express our strong opposition to this enabling legislation. This is a victory for ABC which lobbied that additional funds for school construction should not be the sole responsibility of the business community. By defeating this bill, ABC potentially saved its members thousands of dollars in additional fees.
