ABC led the successful effort in defeating an onerous and costly proposal which would have required all workers on a job site to have completed a 30 Hour OSHA training program before being able to set foot on the project.   It would have been impossible for contractors to comply with this requirement but would have cost them thousands of dollars trying to do so.   ABC was careful to point out that we are all about safety but this bill did nothing to improve the safety of the employees or the overall workplace.  The bill was killed in the Senate Finance Committee by the narrowest of margins, 6-5.  Once the Senate Committee acted on the bill, the House sponsor withdrew his bill.  This was a major victory for ABC and the merit construction industry.  Organized labor was the only group to speak in support of the legislation.
