ABC members are dedicated to free enterprise, open competition, and the merit shop philosophy. They are the builders of schools, hospitals, government buildings, recreational facilities, commercial centers, industrial plants, bridges, roads, museums, churches, and more.
"I have been involved with ABC in one way or another since college, when I was a member of the student chapter at the University of Florida. I knew in college that it was important to get involved in an organization within my field of study. After looking around, there was something about Associated Builders & Contractors' mission that appealed to me. It was simply that contractors should be allowed to bid on work based on their merit (experience, ability and value). It seemed to me that this concept is rooted in the American way of life and the free enterprise system. I didn't know at the time that there are forces out there that look to exclude bidders for reasons other than their merit. This limits fair competition and ultimately decreases value. ABC actively works to ensure that this doesn't happen, so I was interested in joining this organization because of its philosophy." D. Scott Vossler, Foulger-Pratt Contracting, LLC
